About

Monica Alquetz is an improvisor, director, and teacher from Austin, TX, who is now a recent transplant to Los Angeles. She has been performing improv since 2014 and teaching improv since 2017. She has directed and performed in various improvised productions in Austin, including - but not limited to! - mainstage productions such as Start Trekkin (improvised Star Trek), Fiasco (improvised stories in the style of the Coen brothers' movies), Sexy Future Space Lady (inspired by Barbarella), Coven (improvised witch stories), The Black Vault (improvised Lovecraft), and more.

Monica loves teaching improv because of how it reshapes people’s thinking when it comes to failure, risk-taking, and what truly makes people laugh. She believes that everyone has the capacity for comedy and the ability to succeed on stage, and this core belief is apparent in her teaching style. Her goal is to help others have fun, and she has a lot of fun doing it!

Prior to moving to Los Angeles, she was seen performing regularly with Gal Pals (a B. Iden Payne Award nominated duo with her best friend), The Association (an all-female musical improv troupe), the Known Wizards (Merlin Works faculty team), and in the Big Bash (the Hideout Theatre's house team). Now that she's in LA, she's eager to jump into the LA improv scene!
